Removing the Shock
1. Preparation
• Note the orientation of the shock and take photos of the mounting points and spacers to ensure correct reinstallation.
• Set the remote lever to the “All Travel” (open) position to properly relieve the air chambers.
2. Releasing the Air
• Remove the valve cap from the shock.
• Measure and record the current air pressure using a shock pump.
• Carefully release all the air from the shock by pressing the valve.
3. Loosening the Mounting Bolts
• Remove the bolts at the upper and lower mounting eyes of the shock using the appropriate tool (usually an Allen key).
• Hold the frame and linkage firmly as they may move once the bolts are removed.
• Remove all spacers and set them aside.
4. Removing the Shock
• Carefully pull the shock out of the frame. Some gentle wiggling may be necessary.
• Be careful not to lose any bushings or small parts.
Installing the Shock
1. Preparation
• Clean the mounting points on the frame and linkage thoroughly.
• Lightly grease the bolts to prevent corrosion.
2. Installation
• Insert the lower eye of the shock into the frame mount and place the spacers.
• Insert and loosely tighten the bolt.
• Repeat for the upper eye.
• Tighten all bolts to the manufacturer’s recommended torque (refer to the manual or manufacturer specs).
3. Connecting the Remote Lever Cable (if applicable)
• Route the cable through the lever and housing as described in the manual, and attach it to the shock.
• Ensure the remote lever operates correctly.
4. Inflating the Shock
• Pump the recommended air pressure into the air chamber according to your rider weight (check the sticker on the shock or the manual).
• Replace the valve cap.
5. Final Checks
• Test the shock and remote lever function.
• Verify all bolts are securely tightened.
Note:
For the Scott TC 125mm shock, it is important to fully release the air before removal to avoid injury. If you are unsure or lack the proper tools, we recommend having the shock serviced by a professional workshop.
